Puebla de los Angeles a World Heritage City, an authentic museum of the very essence of Mexico. It is in this city where women dressed for the first time the “china poblana” costume that in modern time is a national symbol. In this city lived Catalina de San Juan. Here the Mole Poblano, chiles en nogada and candies were cooked for the first time and they are banner of the Mexican cuisine and it was here where the battle of 5 de mayo was fought in 1862.
With the protection of tree volcanos and between the mythical Tenochtitlan -today Mexico city- and Veracruz, this “novohispana” city flourished for ages. The wealth of the city can be seen in its beautiful facades covered in Talavera, its temples, convents, its history and in its magnificent Palafoxiana library. Today Puebla remains as a cultural reference center in Mexico.
The Zocalo presided by the stunning Cathedral, has always been the heart of this quiet city and the Coffe shops/bars and restaurants under the portals are the main meeting place. From here the visitor walks and discover houses with dolls and alfeñiques, extraordinary Talavera pieces, baroque chapels covered in gold, a bohemian artists´ quarter, a street full of candies and the most traditional Mexican cuisines. Because in Puebla you walk, admire and savor the city.
